Small Business Facade Grant Program
If you own a small business, or own commercial property which houses a small business, you may qualify for up to a $1500 matching funds grant to be used for aesthetic or structural improvement to the exterior of the business. These grants can be used for paint, signage, doors, windows, paving, awnings, safety rails, or any other feature that may make your business more inviting to walk-in customers. The application deadline is 3PM on June 24, 2026. Funds are limited and the application process is competitive. You may download the application here:

Property Tax Notice
NOTICE TO ALL CITY PROPERTY OWNERS - This notice is posted to advise property owners that the last date to pay your 2025 City Property Taxes will be June 30, 2026 @ 3PM EST/2PM CST. Property tax bills will be delinquent after that date. One July 1, 2026, a lien will be placed on all delinquent tax bills. All delinquent tax bills will be published on the city website and in the Mt. Sterling Advocate newspapaer. All bills are subject to additional penalties, interest, and fees, which will be added to the total amount due.

For your convenience, property tax bills can be paid on-line (a 2.5% convenience fee is applied by the card administrator). You may pay your tax bill using a credit card HERE. You may also use our convenient and secure locked drop-box located at the front of City Hall.
Payments can be made in person at City Hall Monday thru Friday during the hours of 9AM to 3PM. Payments can also be mailed to:

All payments should be made out to the "City of Mt. Sterling" and should include a copy of your tax bill or the bill number. If you wish for a receipt to be mailed to you, please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
