Councilmember Dr. Danielle King - Dr. Danielle King, owner of the Mt Sterling Clinic and Spoonful of Sugar has practiced Internal Medicine in Mt. Sterling for the past 16 years. She has served as City Council member since 2014 and is an integral force behind our ongoing downtown revitalization efforts. First Friday Market, The Main Street Park and Farm to Table events are just a few of the programs initiated by Dr. King. Dr. King volunteers as a physician at the Post Clinic, the Medical Director at the Montgomery Health Department and serves on many community boards.
She is past recipient of 2017 Citizen of the Year Award presented by the Mt. Sterling Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. Dr. King wants to continue her endeavors to improve Mt Sterling for current and future generations. Dr. King has served on the City Council since 2015. Councilmember Debbie Helton - Debbie Helton is a lifelong resident of Montgomery County. Besides serving on the Mt. Sterling City Council, she is a school bus driver for the Montgomery County school system — a job that she has found to be very fulfilling. In her spare time, she and husband David enjoys spending time together in the great outdoors…Jeeping through Red River Gorge and camping. She considers her faith and service to God as foremost in her life, followed by her love for family and friends. To serve her community as council member is icing on the cake and a tremendous honor. Councilmember Scott Murphy - Scott Murphy was appointed on September 16, 2025 to the council. He is a lifelong resident of Mount Sterling. He began his professional career in banking and finance in 2011 before joining the Montgomery County School District in 2023 as a mathematics teacher. A proud graduate of Morehead State University, the University of the Cumberlands, and the Leadership Montgomery County program, Scott is committed to serving and strengthening his community.
He has previously served as a board member of the Montgomery County/Mount Sterling Chamber of Commerce and remains actively engaged in local initiatives. Outside of his professional and civic responsibilities, Scott enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Scott is dedicated to working collaboratively with fellow council members, city officials, employees, and citizens to ensure the continued growth and progress of Mount Sterling and Montgomery County.
